PRODUCT
USES
|
|
ProTek-THERMATEX™ possesses excellent adhesion on weathered wood,
shakes, plywood, clapboard, primed metal, galvanized, primed synthetic or
aluminum siding, tin, copper, asbestos, asphalt, urethane, polyester,
polystyrene, Styrofoam, fiberglass, clay, adobe, brick, stucco, slate,
slab and various other substrates. For residential, commercial and
industrial applications. |
SURFACE
PREPARATION
|
|
Trenching, if applicable, is necessary to form a complete seal.
Trench 4 to 6 inches around the perimeter of the structure. For
proper adhesion, it is essential that the surface be pressure washed at a
minimum of 1500 PSI, using a water and chlorine solution to remove and
loose, flaking or peeling paint along with any oil, grease, residues and
especially mold, mildew and algae. ProTek-THERMATEX™ will
resist mildew growth, but will not kill mildew already on the surface!
Apply only to a sound, well-prepared wall surface. If the surface remains
chalky or is in poor condition after cleaning, a coat of ProTek-ELASTOPRIME™
Elastomeric Adhesive Wall Primer is necessary. Rusted metal should
be primed with ProTek-OXIPRIME™ Red Iron Oxide Corrosion
Resistant Primer. Patch any holes, cracks, seams, imperfections,
etc. with ProTek-THERMAPATCH™ Multi-purpose Elastomeric Caulk
& Sealant. |
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
|
|
Stir well before using. Do
not thin, use product as is. Do not apply when temperatures are below 45º
degrees Fahrenheit or when humidity is very high. Do not apply when primer
will be subjected to rain or heavy dew before it has had enough time to
dry (approximately 4 to 6 hours). Drying time will vary depending
upon temperature, humidity and location. Application using brush or
roller (1-1/4” nap) is cumbersome and inefficient as back-rolling is not
possible. Spraying with Hopper Gun (commonly used for
“popcorn” ceiling applications) is highly recommended. These sprayers
come in 2 to 5 gallon sizes and have adjustable nozzles.
Spread uniformly. Wait at least 12 hours before applying second
coat. Two coats of ProTek-THERMATEX™ are required for
the 15 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY. Unless a very rough texture is
desired, ProTek-DURAFINISH™ is acceptable as a second coat for
warranty purposes AND IS RECOMMENDED to seal over the first coat of ProTek-THERMATEX™.
DuraFinish™ can be applied by brush, 3/4" nap roller or with
a 1 GPM airless sprayer or 60 PSI pot sprayer using a .027 inch tip
(remove filters from sprayer).
Clean up immediately after
use with warm soapy water while coating is still wet.
